Cabinet of Wind
2013
In 2013, Taipei Culture Foundation invited noiseKitchen to participate the making of exhibition “A Path, and the Other Memory Segments”. With “Cabinet of Wind”, noiseKitchen attempts to pile up sounds that belong exclusively to this place –human voices, bird songs, rain drops – to summon this transitory moment.
Sounds are formless, colorless, odorless. They perfectly express every tiny detail lying latent here. When sounds revolve in our minds, memories will emerge, even if they only pause for an instant. With “Cabinet of Wind”, noiseKitchen hopes to sonically manifest the spatial experiences of Treasure Hill Traveler’s Hostel. No copious footnotes or reminders are necessary – a picture full of life is portrayed here. Thus, imagination, memory and perception generate empathic reverberations through the interlacing of the real and the unreal.
